Name: Troy R. McGouirk
Troy Roy McGouirk, age 78, of Hazlehurst passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Jeff Davis Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. McGouirk was born September 30, 1931 in Troup County but has resided in Jeff Davis County for the past 23 years. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Mary Browning McGouirk; his parents, George & Julie McGouirk; step-mother, Sally McGouirk; children, Miya McGouirk and Jerry McGouirk; parents-in-law, Jerry & Mary Browning; sister-in-law, Linda Rice; and several siblings.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lorrie and Tim Rowland of Hazlehurst; son, Troy Lynn McGouirk; grandchildren, Travis and Robin Rowland of Baxley and Eric Rowland of Hazlehurst; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alton and Judy Browning of Clarksville; special friend, Marie Rowland of Hazlehurst; special niece, Gloria Taylor of Hawkinsville; special nephew, Alan McGouirk of Dublin; and several other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6-8pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held Sunday, October 25th at 3:00 pm in the Scotland City Cemetery with Roy Kight officiating.
The family will assemble at the residence, 37 Cottonwood Road, Hazlehurst.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.
